Mitchell Bard’s research interests lie in how the atomization of the 20th century mass media system has affected news, especially on broadcast television, cable television and the Internet. Mitchell has presented papers at AEJMC, PCA/ACA and MAPOR (where his single-authored paper was awarded honorable mention for best student paper, while he also served as a co-author on the best student paper winner). He has served as a teaching assistant for J202 and J561 and was nominated by the SJMC for a College of Letters & Science teaching award. Prior to returning to school, Mitchell worked as a writer/editor for numerous publications (including in strategic communications), a filmmaker and practiced law.
