MADISON, Wis. – Sixty-six student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin have earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award, the conference office announced on Tuesday. The list includes students from 17 different sports who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.
The 2018-19 Badger class of Distinguished Scholar Award recipients includes 10 students who maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the previous academic term.

Among the notable Badgers to be recognized are three-time NCAA swimming champion
Beata Nelson, 2019 NCAA Indoor 5,000-meter champion
Alicia Monson, hockey All-Americans
Annie Pankowski and
Kristen Campbell as well as volleyball All-Americans
Madison Duello and
Sydney Hilley.

Big Ten Faculty Representatives established the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2008 to supplement the Academic All-Big Ten program. Distinguished Scholar Award recipients must have earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full time at the institution for the entire previous academic year (two semesters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year, excluding any summer grades. The Academic All-Big Ten threshold is a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for a student's academic career.
