Description

Bring the Elephant Home’s mission is to increase the chances of survival for elephants and work towards a world in which people and elephants can live in harmony, benefiting from each other’s existence. BTEH conservation projects root in local communities. Usually, the people living near elephants are the most affected, while receiving hardly any benefits from their presence. Equitable and sustainable nature conservation respects their knowledge and values, and makes the benefits and income that elephants can bring accessible to all.

Bring the Elephant Home is looking for 1-2 interns to take on a communications role:

The Communications Intern will assist with BTEH’s quarterly newsletter, elephant adoption program, presentations and social media. BTEH’s newsletter and African/Asian elephant adoption program are two important tools the foundation uses to educate followers, build a relationship with an international audience, and draw donations from a broad network of supporters. A basic system is in place for both of these tools, but an intern’s goal would be to streamline these systems, translate BTEH’s research findings into info-graphics, implement actions to expand BTEH’s reach, and improve on the design of both virtual and hard-copy materials that are distributed. Further, BTEH runs Elephant & Co, an e-commerce platform that sells elephant-friendly products to generate income for our community partners in Ruam Thai village. BTEH is seeking a Communications Intern with interest in social media management and analytics to broaden the project’s reach.

Communication
There will be bi-weekly calls on Google Meet with the Intern Supervisor and BTEH’s field management teams in South Africa and Thailand. Calls are likely to take place in morning to accommodate the different time zones. Otherwise, all staff and volunteers involved in the intern’s projects are available by email, and additional calls can be scheduled to offer more guidance and support.
