Come join us! We’re looking for someone who can help us get the word out about our programs and can lend a hand putting on agency events.

About us: Canopy Center is a non-profit agency located in Madison, Wisconsin that provides services to children and families in our community impacted by trauma and adversity.

With a small paid staff and lots of volunteers we operate three direct service programs:
1. CASA, which stands for Court-Appointed Special Advocates (a national program), which pairs community volunteers with children under court protection, giving those children a strong, informed voice in the courts.
2. Oasis, which provides trauma-informed therapy for survivors of sexual abuse and their non-offending caregivers.
3. Parent to Child, which provides supervised visitation services to families at times when Dane County Human Services is unavailable.

Qualifications: Candidate should be someone who can communicate clearly with both words and images, who knows how to use basic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva), and is comfortable creating and publishing content for social media. They should be super organized with good follow through.

Some things you would do:
• Write a brief article about Mental Health Awareness Month for our May newsletter.
Take photos at a golf-outing fundraiser, then edit and arrange them with text for posts to Facebook and Instagram.
• Reach out with a thank you to a donor who has provided theater tickets for an upcoming event auction.
• Make sure supplies from a recent event (tablecloths, clipboards, etc.) get returned to storage organized and ready for the next event.
• To succeed, you should be: Organized. A good communicator. Creative. Able to plan and follow through.

Official Duties:
• Assist with the management of Canopy Center’s communications outlets, including social media, website, monthly newsletter, donor outreach, and physical presence in the community.
• Assist with the development of marketing strategies.
• Design, create, and publish content for general and event-specific agency marketing, including photography, video, and graphic design.
• Create content and edit layout for monthly newsletter, highlighting agency programs and activities.
• Manage production of communications material at Canopy Center events (photos, videos, etc.).
• Provide ongoing content review of agency website, and update website as needed.
• Maintain internal agency communications platform (intranet).
• When donations are received, ensure donor acknowledgements are sent and prepare bank deposits.
• Maintain donor information in database (Salesforce).
• Assist with grant and report writing as requested.
Event Planning
• Purchase and maintain supplies and equipment for agency events.
• Maintain organization of marketing event supplies, equipment, files and documents.
• Coordinate procurement of donated items for auction at events.
• Work alongside supervisor performing other tasks related to planning and executing agency events.
Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
Hours: 30 hours per week, generally during normal business hours Monday-Friday, with limited work from home if desired. Occasional evenings and weekends required.
Physical: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Education: High school diploma and 1 year of experience in either social media/marketing or event planning; or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Salary and Benefits:
$28,080 – $31,980 annually, based on qualifications. Long-term disability and life insurance policy premiums paid in full by the agency. Health insurance is available for employees working 30 or more hours per week, with single coverage paid 90% by the agency. SIMPLE IRA payroll contribution available with agency match of 1-3%.
