Description

This Educational Assistant position is for the More Than Just A Game: Sports, Media, and Culture course being offered for the BSS (Badger Summer Scholars) program. BSS is a 2-week, residential program being offered to high school aged, US and International students in the summer of 2025.

Educational Assistants for the BSS high school program are hired to provide students with enhanced learning opportunities both in the classroom and during the programming day and are chosen for their experience working with children, an interest in the specific class topic, and an expressed interest to work with Badger Precollege.

The EA’s main role is to help facilitate discussion, encourage students to reflect and develop actionable goals using course content as it related to their future goals. The EA will help prepare students for guest speakers, share their own educational experiences, and help students better understand their options in higher education. Interest in and ability to connect with students from around the world, provide an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere, and creatively engage class participants is a must.

EA’s may also be responsible for:
• Taking attendance and monitoring student progress each day. Report any absences to the Program Manager.
• Reviewing rough draft submissions and providing feedback on various projects (essay outlines, final project presentations)
• Attend required Badger Precollege and Youth Compliance staff training(s) prior to the program beginning. Saturday, June 14th 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m.
• Assist the instructor in carrying out their responsibilities for students during all class times. Supervise students during different classroom activities around campus.
• Be a role model for the students and maintain a professional relationship. Although you may form friendly relationships with the students, your job is not to be their friend, but rather their counselor.
