The Insights Intern is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management of research and insights projects to ensure they are completed accurately and on time. The intern will report to the Director of Insights and be involved in projects from the initial identification of objectives to the final presentation of results. This is a paid internship at 40 hours per week. There is an opportunity for this role to evolve into a full-time position.

The ideal candidate will be pursuing, or have earned, a bachelor’s degree in one of the following majors: marketing, marketing research, mass communications/advertising, psychology or sociology.  The ideal candidate is also curious about consumers/customers and why they do what they do; passionate about learning new things and being challenged; and positive in their outlook so they can come up with new ways of addressing research challenges. Being proactive, highly organized and having strong attention to detail are also critical for success in this position.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Project management
  • Conduct quality control on quantitative surveys to ensure they are programmed correctly
  • Program and monitor qualitative online discussion communities
  • Identify stimulus to be used in online discussion communities
  • Develop relationships with vendor partners and work with them to get project estimates
  • Ensure fieldwork is progressing well and meeting quotas
  • Identify and arrange location details for in-person qualitative research
  • Gather project inputs from team members in other departments
  • Data analysis and synthesis
  • Identify preliminary learnings from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Create charts or other visual representations of results for reports
  • Identify industry trends using online sources
  • Conduct backgrounding on prospective clients and industries of interest
  • Consumer insights and trends thought leadership
  • Identify and share relevant consumer information regarding key categories of interest
  • Explore additional methods to gather consumer insights
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings
  • Administrative Responsibilities
  • Manage project budgets, including estimates
  • Process monthly project billing, ensuring accuracy of invoices

Depending on the experience level of a candidate, the Insights Intern may also be involved in:

Developing target profiles focused on emotional motivations for behavior

  • Moderating online qualitative communities maintained for our clients’ brands
  • Downloading survey data to SPSS, cleaning data, coding open-ends
  • Writing questionnaires, screeners and discussion guides
  • Writing proposals and reports and presenting results
