Position Information:

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: St. Paul, MN or remote (anywhere within the U.S.A.)
  • Start Date: June 7, 2021 – August 27, 2021
  • Compensation: $15.00/hour 

Intern, Small Change Podcast:

Are you interested in working on a new podcast focusing on highlighting smart, practical and collaborative money skills developed by people living with lower and unstable incomes? Do you want to work alongside our dynamic duo of Chris Farrell and Twila Dang as they talk to community members who are redefining wealth and poverty, the value of community and the purpose of money? If so, come join our team as the Small Change Podcast Intern.

You will support the Small Change podcast team with production and post-production work to create audience engagement beyond the podcast audio. At the end of the internship, you will learn how to develop, produce and distribute a season of a short-form narrative podcast. Specifically, you will learn time management, repurposing content, employing strategy and various hands on technical and editorial techniques. Above all else, you will have a hand in producing materials that can be shared with trusted community partners to extend the reach of the podcast into communities that could be served/supported by the content.

Key Learning Goals:

  1. Development of content producer/organizational skillset
  2. Development of podcast content distribution strategy
  3. Development of podcast production skillset.


  • Content creation

  • Research for supplemental materials
  • Outreach to experts for supplemental materials 


  • Partial subsidy for onsite parking or public transportation.

  • Participate in robust on-boarding experience.
  • Professional development: on-the-job training, intercultural development assessment, formal performance review feedback sessions, etc.
  • Participate in brown bag sessions to gain broader perspective of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in an undergraduate or Master’s program OR have earned a degree within the last 12 months
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Creative and imaginative
  • Comfortable working independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A desire to learn and do hands on training
  • Graphic Arts, Audio technology course work encouraged but not required
