This is a great position for college students who want to get some professional journalism experience. The last person to hold this position went on to a full-time and well-paid journalism job at PBS.
We will mostly be investigating state government, politics and law enforcement in Wisconsin. Interns will get experience in a wide variety of areas, including investigation/data gathering, graphic design and fundraising, which is becoming an essential skill in journalism.
We are a nonpartisan journalism organization, which means if you work for us, you give up your right to make partisan political statements on social media, do partisan political activism, etc. You’ll have to scrub your social media of any partisan political content before you start.
Start date: ASAP
Compensation: $300 stipend after successful completion of semester
Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Location: Madison preferred, but you’ll mostly work remotely
Duties: a range of things including online research and computer work, graphic design, database building, fundraising and support, photography, open records requests, etc.
