KSNB-TV, the NBC affiliate serving Lincoln/Hastings/Grand Island, is looking for an meteorologist to lead weather coverage for the station’s key evening newscasts.
This meteorologist will be based at KSNB’s studios in Hastings, Nebraska. They will have opportunities to put together and present on-air weather forecasts for multiple TV newscasts. They will also be expected to push the envelope in developing compelling visuals and presentations with a hyper-local focus on the Hastings/Grand Island/Kearney portion of the market. They will decide on the best way to tell the “weather story of the day.” During severe weather coverage, they would work with a team of meteorologists across the state and modern tools including a storm chasing vehicle to bring comprehensive and in-depth presentation of what is happening across Nebraska.
This position requires a high level of creativity and communication. They must have a background in meteorology with a passion for cutting-edge presentation. Professional experience on-air as a meteorologist is also required, and experience storm chasing is a plus. The select candidate must also have the ability to report and to forecast weather accurately and creatively under deadline pressure. Severe Weather coverage experience is a plus along with knowledge of newscast production.
KSNB-TV serves the Central Nebraska area in the Lincoln-Hastings-Kearney market.
