KSNB-TV, Local4, Hastings, Nebraska, is looking for the next sports storyteller in our news department. You will anchor sportscasts and shoot highlights. And while those are important parts of the job, the greater emphasis will be on telling “people” stories related to sports that even non-sports fans will find compelling.
We need people on our team who have a passion for learning about our community and our audience and who authentically demonstrate that passion on the air, on-line and especially in person. Our audience embraces our talent because we show them that we care. On-air experience at a professional news station, a college degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism related field, are desired.
We’re also looking for the ability to communicate live in a professional manner, for all of our media channels. The ability to type and operate newsroom computers and other news gathering equipment in an above average capacity, excellent people skills when dealing with coworkers and the public, a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are requirements. KSNB also does pre-employment drug testing. Position would require permanent residence in Hastings or Grand Island, Nebraska.
The right candidate will be a proven leader in the newsroom. We need someone who’s a positive influence for those around them, and thrives in a competitive, but fun environment.
Familiarity with ENPS, Sony ENG, Edius editing platform TVU, and ARC Publishing a plus.
Must have valid Driver’s License with good driving record. Employment is contingent on successfully passing drug screen and driving record check.
• Produce and anchor sports content
• Enterprise, shoot, edit, and report compelling stories with a sports emphasis
• Execute all aspects of storytelling, scheduling shoots and interviews, shooting video, writing scripts, editing, and going live as needed
• Be a multi-platform storyteller, with regular posts to social media and the station’s website and news apps
• Meet tight daily deadlines
• Respond urgently and appropriately to breaking and developing news
KSNB-TV serves the Central Nebraska area in the Lincoln-Hastings-Kearney market. We are an NBC affiliate with full-service newscasts weekdays and weekends. “Local 4” is a growing brand in the market on broadcast and digital platforms.
