Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientists Association of Tanzania (MeLSAT) is the professional association for medical laboratory scientists, technologists, and assistant health laboratory technicians in Tanzania. The association’s mission is to advance medical laboratory sciences by creating a forum for laboratory professional development with the goal of raising the quality of health laboratory data in surveillance or diagnosis of disease for the people of Tanzania.

Virtual Communications & Marketing Internship tasks and responsibilities may include the following:
-Posting website updates
-Managing social media
-Updating the membership database and engaging members
-Identifying and developing contacts of peer associations for possible collaboration
-Developing proposals for fundraising required to support MeLSAT’s annual conference

Communication will take place via Zoom, WhatsApp and E-mail. Engagement with internship supervisor and other team members will occur every three days, but the intern will be able to reach out to their supervisor for any assistance at any time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Social media and web marketing experience
-Good academic and disciplinary standing
-Proficient computer skills
-Basic design skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Relevant prior coursework, training or work experience
-Marketing and communications skills
-Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills
-Good interpersonal skills to work well with others in different cultures and languages

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
We have overall Goals and Expectations for Study Abroad Participants, covering the personal, academic and professional aspects of study abroad. Additionally on this program, you can:

-Social media engagement with people from diverse backgrounds, culture and education
-Coordination and leadership skills through working with top association leaders
-A basic understanding of some Swahili phrases, culture and beliefs
