Description
The Mikhouse Market is a new business that opened up in Melrose, WI on November 30, 2024. It is house in a standalone building and rents the front portion of the building with store dimensions of 36’ X 36’. The Milkhouse Market main sales consist of cheese and meats. At this time the business sources its cheese from Lynn Dairy and Nasonville Dairy. These cheeses are of higher quality and more variety than would be found at a grocery store. In addition to cheeses, cuts of beef and pork are sold. The beef is sourced from my farm and I have it processed at a local locker plant and sold as retail cuts at Milkhouse Market. I find this as a way to add value to my product and diversify my customers. Eventually I plan to raise hogs to be sold but at this time the retail pork is being sourced from a local locker plant.
Currently I am working on gaining a beer and wine license from the Village of Melrose to be able to sell beer and wine to be consumed on premise. I plan on adding a kitchen area to be able to make charcuterie trays. A positive about the building is there is a lot of capacity for outdoor seating that can be taken advantage of during the warmer months of the year.
