Description
Sprouts Nature School offers after school, full day camps and homeschool programs for kids in Madison, WI.
Activities include gardening, cooking, hiking and exploring, foraging, building fires, playing games and creative projects such as bird house building, making terrariums and nature journaling. There will also be a focus on nature-based art.
In the colder months we will do winter and snow-themed activities such as shelter building, sledding, snow sculptures, indoor time at libraries, museums and so on when it’s too cold to be outside.
Sprouts Nature School offers child-centered, flexible and creative learning based on practical skill building, connection to nature and being in the present moment. For kids ages 4 to 12 years old.
- Typical hours: 3pm-5:30pm for after school programming Monday and Wednesday each week. Now through June.
- Over breaks, eg. Spring Break: the last week in March there is the potential for more hours between 9am-3pm, Monday-Friday.
- Summer 2025: Starting in June. Depends on enrollment but typically 20 to 35 hours per week Monday through Friday, between 9am-5:30pm.
Desired Qualifications: Experience working with kids. Background in outdoor education. Comfortable working outdoors in a range of weather conditions. Valid Driver’s License. Ability to help with transportation of kids from schools to parks, libraries and field trips. Desire to lead. Passion for environmental education.
