Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a scientific research agency under the U.S. Department of Commerce, is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist at the ZA-III salary level for a permanent position in Boulder, Colorado. This person will research and write press releases, feature stories, blog posts and other materials about NIST research and programs; pitch stories to reporters and field reporter inquiries; develop text for infographics and social media; and provide communication coaching and advice to NIST staff. Applicants must submit with their application two writing samples that demonstrate the ability to translate complex chemistry, biology, biotechnology and/or physics research concepts into journalistic lay language. Salary range is $91,753 – 141,836, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, on-site, permanent position. Some telework may be permitted according to Department of Commerce policy. Must be a U.S. citizen or national to apply.
