About Collective Wellbeing Stories

Collective Wellbeing Stories is a new online magazine in the Madison area in the final preparation stages before launching in the last quarter of 2021. CWS is a part of the Institute for Collective Wellbeing, an organization dedicated to support people, organizations, and communities on their journey toward their highest potential, achieved by developing healthy relationships to the self, to others, and to nature.

Our aim as an organization is to share stories, ideas, practices, research, and frameworks that help all of us continuously evolve our understanding of collective wellbeing and how it is practiced and seen in our communities and organizations. This is where the Collective Wellbeing Stories magazine and you come in.

Collective Wellbeing Stories provides a platform where wellbeing champions in the Madison community and beyond can share their stories and spark thoughtful conversations. It also serves as a hub to connect organizations and individuals with similar wellbeing-oriented goals.

About the Story Creator Intern Position

The Story Creator intern will be the one in charge of bringing our article or video ideas to life. You will contact interviewees and contributors that have agreed to participate, coordinate times to meet up in person or online, conduct audio, written, or video interviews, write articles based on the information gathered, and deliver all of the materials to the rest of the team in a timely manner so that they can be edited and posted on the website as per a content calendar schedule.

Depending on the specific content plans for the month, we’re looking to complete between 2 and 4 stories per month.

More Details:

  • Internship length: Starting September and lasting until the end of the year, with the potential to be extended.
  • Compensation: Between $50 – $100 per completed story depending on amount of work involved
  • Schedule: For the most part you’ll be able to work on your own time as long as you can meet the agreed upon deadline, allowing you to work around your class schedule. We do have team meetings every Friday from 9 – 10:30am. We would prefer that the Story Creator intern is present at each of these meetings, for at least part of it, but we can be flexible.

  • Intern must have either access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license or access to, and be willing to take, public transportation to get around the city to conduct interviews as needed
  • Strong writing skills
  • Comfortable conducting interviews via phone, in person, or via video call
  • Preference given to Juniors and Seniors that have already taken several classes in the School of Journalism, but others will be considered as well
  • Experience with video recording equipment, a plus
