Ever wanted to turn a day at the beach into a front-page story? Cavort with robotic pets? Score a scoop about how COVID in South Florida might cancel the entire MLB season?
You can get those real-world experiences and more in one of the nation’s most competitive news markets by becoming an intern in the digital-first newsroom of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
We were one of the few major media outlets to maintain and even grow our internship program in 2020 despite COVID-19 shutting down our newsroom. And now we are taking applications for paid summer internships for 2021 in news, entertainment and sports reporting, multimedia/interactives or data reporting, and photo/video.
Candidates must be college students who have completed basic journalism courses. Professional experience through a previous internship or freelance work is strongly preferred, though students whose experience is limited to campus media also will be considered. Interns generally are current college students, but we also will consider recent college graduates.
Interns must have the use of a car (we reimburse for mileage, tolls and parking), and photographers must have their own equipment. Interns are responsible for finding their own housing.
Students selected as interns will work full time for 10 weeks, sometimes more, in summer 2021.
