Description
The Graaskamp Center for Real Estate, which is housed within the Wisconsin School of Business, is seeking an experienced and well-rounded writer/communications intern who can take the lead on a variety of writing assignments, including feature articles, press releases, spotlight articles and faculty research updates. Contribute to the Center’s website and outreach efforts and produce a variety of materials including online content and marketing materials. Curiosity and enthusiasm for global business, affordable and sustainable housing, and real estate and urban land economics.
Responsibilities:
• Write and edit content, including news stories, feature articles, press releases and development and website materials.
• Take a lead role in the planning and execution of social media platforms with a focus on LinkedIn.
• Assist with the Graaskamp Center online content, creating new content and making existing content more user friendly.
• Assist with our monthly e-newsletter and the annual report.
• Perform administrative tasks such as research, proofreading, fact checking, organizing photo files, preparing information for distribution, creating graphics, etc.
• Not required but helpful: Willingness to learn how to produce and edit podcast and video interviews.
Qualifications:
• Excellent writing/editing skills. Please submit published articles for writing samples.
• Creative thinker; excels at generating new ideas. Experience with writing feature stories, social media posts, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently within deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and team communication skills; Comfortable interviewing diverse constituents – from students to industry professionals.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for global business, affordable housing, real estate and urban land economics, and a desire to help share the mission and vision of the Graaskamp Center.
Salary/Hours
• Start in September and work through the academic year and possibly beyond.
• Starting rate of pay: $16 – $20 per hour depending on experience.
• 5-10 hours per week during the academic year, depending on workload and class schedule. Can work remotely for most projects.
