Xerxes Minocher is a PhD student in SJMC at UW-Madison. He received his B. Comm. in IT Management from Ryerson University, and an MSc in Marketing from Queen’s University, Canada. Tying together these previous experiences Xerxes’ current research interests are focused within the domains of society, technology, and consumer culture. He is currently exploring the ways in which we communicate about artificial intelligence, including a project examining the use of predictive policing algorithms by the Milwaukee, WI police department. His most recent published work appears in New Media & Society and explores how consumer activists use the online petition site Change.org to challenge and resist corporate behaviour.
