People want more news—updated more frequently—in quicker bites. If you have experience in broadcast or podcast, help us launch a new Voice Brief project to deliver customized audio news briefings to “smart home” devices such as Google Home and Amazon Echo.
We seek two part-time audio producers to join the Lee Enterprises digital content center based in Madison, WI, a launch point for digital transformation in the newspaper industry. You’ll help us expand our audience for news in our major markets nationwide.
To start, you’ll pilot a new artificial intelligence tool, developed with support from the Google News Initiative, that mines and organizes our digital content for quick production and distribution to home devices. Understanding and using technology will be essential. You also will be the voice talent, so experience in radio, television, podcasting or similar online content will give you a head start. Writing and editing experience is a plus. But we’re looking for aptitude over experience, as this job will evolve over time.
Absolute requirements? A bachelor’s degree plus experience of a year or more in voice or visual media, digital production and/or social media marketing. Internships count. Also, you’ll need to meet our clear goals and deadlines without fail, and work mostly early mornings and some Saturdays or Sundays. Ideally candidates will use our Madison, WI studio facilities for daily production. You’ll have to love numbers as much as words and visuals, because we measure audience response with a range of analytics tools.
What do you get? A clear mission and frequent chances to shine in a new, high-profile initiative with flexible hours in a part-time role.
This role will work an estimated 20 to 24 hours per week. Benefits offered include medical, dental, and vision insurances; company matched 401k; employee assistance program; and paid vacation, personal, sick, and holiday time. Pre-employment background and drug screenings apply.
Capital Newspapers is an Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity employer. We are committed to maintaining a workforce that accurately reflects our audience and expands our voice. Women, minorities, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
