Phil Glende is executive director of student media at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. After many years as a newspaper editor and reporter, he received his Ph.D. in 2010 and taught journalism for two years at a liberal arts college in the Chicago area before moving to Indiana State. His research has focused on newspapers, reporting practices, and organized labor in the 20th century. His work has been published in American Journalism, Journalism History, the Newspaper Research Journal, Enterprise and Society, and Essays in Economic and Business History. His dissertation was a finalist for awards from the American Journalism Historians Association and the Business History Conference. He now supervises ISU’s campus newspaper, its radio station, and its student video production group.
