Danny Parker is a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A mixed methodologist, Danny is committed to understanding the role communication plays in the preservation of democracy and the impact of mediatization on society. Her research interests include global expression rights, corporate surveillance, civilian and consumer privacy, international reporting, and the impact of network and algorithmic manipulation on political identity and behavior. Like her mentors, Danny wishes to aid in the scrutiny of powers that threaten press freedom, civil liberty, fair legislation, and electoral politics. Danny has a professional background in international education. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University and her master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia.
