Two graduate students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Megan Duncan and Meredith Metzler, have been selected to attend the PhDigital Bootcamp at the Media Innovation Lab at Texas State University in May. They are two of 20 selected for the program.
The program explores innovative curriculum in the digital landscape with a goal of staying on top of technology in journalism classrooms. Duncan and Metzler will learn from advisers on virtual reality, social media and more. Prior to the event, students will engage in online learning modules as well. PhDigital is the first workshop of its kind.
Students are provided lodging, transport, materials and meals through the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for the in-person workshop.
Duncan currently works with the Center for Journalism Ethics and researches credibility in the constantly changing culture of journalism. Metzler is the senior editor for Madison Commons and is researching rural communication environments for her dissertation.
