Position Summary:
We are looking for a flexible and technically skilled Broadcast Technician to support a wide range of studio-based broadcast operations. This role plays a critical part in the smooth execution of daily newscasts and production, handling responsibilities that span video editing, audio support, camera operation (robotic & Stedicam), and control room functions. The ideal candidate is a dependable team player with strong technical acumen and an eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
• Video Editing: Edit news packages, promotional spots, and other broadcast material.
• Robotic Camera Operation: Operate and manage robotic camera systems in studio environments for live and recorded newscasts.
• Audio Assistant/Operator: Set up, test, and run audio equipment during live and taped productions.
• Technical Director (TD) Support: Assist or step into the role of Technical Director for live broadcasts using switchers and production automation tools.
• Assistant EIC Duties: Aid engineering staff with studio setup, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting of control room and broadcast systems.
• Department Liaison: Serve as a key communicator between news, engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless coordination across all technical aspects of broadcasts.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Technology, Media Production, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a television studio or control room environment.
• Proficiency with video editing platforms and newsroom computer systems (e.g., ENPS, Outlook, Windows).
• Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and flexible work schedules (including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays).
• Willing to learn new systems and signal flow as they become available.
• Become a member of IBEW local 1220 television broadcast engineers union.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with Adobe Premier, Audio over IP, Sony camera control, Ross OverDrive, and other broadcast automation systems.
• Basic understanding of IP-based video and streaming workflows.

Compensation:
$21.33 to $44.97 per hour – commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level
