THE VILLAGE DIAPER BANK:
The mission of The Village Diaper Bank (VDB) is to eradicate diaper need to improve the physical, mental, and economic health of the families we serve. Nearly 1 in 2 families with young children struggle to afford clean diapers for their baby. Public assistance benefits like SNAP and WIC do not cover the purchase of diapers.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a dynamic, self-starter to assist with communications and marketing efforts. The communications and marketing intern will work with the executive director to maintain and improve VDB’s social media and website presence, drive engagement with our donors, and support organizational goals and initiatives related to programming and events. We are willing to work with your specific learning goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in planning, writing and managing e-blasts and e-newsletters.
• Create content for and update website with current events, relevant news, etc.
• Plan, update and maintain social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
• Design event and program fliers, graphics and other marketing materials.
• Provide input for creative marketing strategies and social media campaigns.
• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and
communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in communications, nonprofit
management, liberal arts or related field.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms and tools.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Canva, Squarespace, Loomly and
MailChimp highly desired.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Self-starter, good time management, creative, with ability to communicate in a professional
manner.
Hours: 10-15 hours per week with flexible schedule to coincide with class and/or work schedule.
Compensation: Internships are unpaid, but students will be offered class credit for work as it applies to their field of study.
Location: 80% virtual and 20% on-site at VDB warehouse (3302 Dairy Dr, Madison)
