KOLN-TV, the strong market leader in the Lincoln/Hastings/Grand Island market, is looking for a Digital Breaking News MMJ/Producer to join the area’s #1 morning show. We are seeking a driven and dynamic journalist to lead digital coverage of breaking news and weather in the overnight hours. You will provide breaking news coverage in newscasts and on the 10/11 Now Streaming Studio. You will also be trained to produce the show, assisting the overnight producer on days when there aren’t breaking stories to cover.
General Responsibilities:
• Lead digital coverage overnight, including writing local news stories as needed and posting to social media
• Report breaking news from the field and 10/11 Streaming Studio
• Monitor police scanner for breaking news
• Drive the 10/11 storm chasing vehicle, the Weather Shield, during weather events
• Produce the 10/11 morning show on a fill-in basis
Qualifications:
• Exceptional writing ability
• Exceptional news judgment and sense of urgency
• Familiarity with social media, streaming services
• A four-year degree in journalism, some professional experience in journalism preferred
• Familiarity with ENPS, Edius or other non-linear editing systems, TVU, Bitcentral, or ARC Publishing a plus
Must have valid Drivers License with good driving record. Employment is contingent on successfully passing drug screen and driving record check.
