Mengyu Li is a Ph.D. candidate and the Helen Firstbrook Franklin Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellow at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her research focuses on digital media, political communication, and media psychology, utilizing both computational and quantitative methods.
Her current research agenda is centered on two main areas: (1) examining how social media affordances shape communication flows and mobilization efforts related to gender politics across various platforms, and (2) assessing the impact of multimodal content (e.g., audio, video) on digital media’s role in combating disinformation and violence against women, as well as in mobilizing public support.
Mengyu holds an M.Phil. in Communication Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University, an M.A. in Global Communication from Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Renmin University of China.
