An alumna of the UW-Madison SJMC, Deb Medsker has spent decades learning the ins and outs of strategic media planning and media campaign activation for household-name brands including Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s and Discover Card. Currently Vice President of Operations for Starcom, Deb leverages her years of experience to deliver best practices and solve problems for the agency’s largest global client, Samsung.
Deb recently updated the curriculum for Journalism 447, Strategic Media Planning, to reflect the realities of planning across both digital and analog media. Deb particularly enjoys teaching about current media industry trends and pitfalls, and helping students develop a portfolio-worthy media plan for the brand of their choice.
In her spare time, Deb is an avid soccer player and cyclist, and a screenwriter who recently won Best Short Screenplay in the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards. Deb lives in the Middleton area with her husband David, their two teenagers, and their orange tabby cat Harvey.
