Yoo Ji Suh is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with minors in Political Science and Psychology. Yoo Ji’s research examines the interplay between media effects, moral psychology, and public opinion. Specifically, she aims to (a) explore how media, as well as individual and group morality, jointly influence civic and democratic culture, such as tolerance, inclusivity, and compromise; (b) examine the moral underpinnings of backlash against social movements; and (c) leverage insights into morality to design persuasive interventions that promote pro-social attitudes and behaviors. She explores these questions using a combination of computational, experimental, and survey approaches.
In Spring 2025, Yoo Ji will be teaching JOURN 677: Concepts & Tools for Data Analysis and Visualization.
