Description
America SCORES Milwaukee, a leading non-profit organization that operates school-based youth programs seeks energetic and self-motivated individuals to fulfill the position of Afterschool Program Group Leader. This position is responsible for leading fun and meaningful programs which incorporate a range of activities (reading, math, arts, recreation, etc.) during the after school hours and summer months, Monday through Friday.
Grade Levels: Elementary and/or Middle School
Begin Date: Flexible, Hiring Ongoing
Type of Employment: Part-time, non-exempt
Compensation: $13 – $17 per hour, commensurate with experience
Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm-5:30pm, or flexible between 7:30am-5:30pm during summer
Locations: 1712 S 32nd St, 53215 -OR- 2424 S 4th St, 53207
Job Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver high quality program activities that meet the organization’s mission, philosophy, standards, and goals, including but not limited to of promoting academic, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development
• Teach chosen curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child
• Develop lesson plans to ensure high-quality delivery
• Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants and positively guide their interactions and activities
• Model appropriate behavior at all time including developing and maintaining professional demeanors and boundaries with youth, coworkers, parents, visitors, day school staff, etc.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required, including attendance rosters, incident reports, timecards, etc.
• Maintain physical state of all program space and equipment by practicing safety, cleanliness, and inventory control
• Maintain reliable attendance to ensure participants have a consistent mentor
• Attend meetings and training sessions as required by MPS and America SCORES Milwaukee
Qualifications:
Education/Knowledge/Experience:
• At least 18 years of age
• Have completed high school or its equivalent
• Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish) strongly preferred
• Prior experience working with school-age children (4 years old and older) and families from variety of cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Candidates who have at least one of the following are strongly preferred: (a) Six college credits in a childcare, early childhood, education, or a related field; (b) Have completed the Intro to Childcare and Skills and Strategies courses; (c) Hold a Level 7 or higher credential from WIregistry.org
• Currently possess or ability to obtain within three months of hire: DCF 251 requirements including but not limited to: CPR and First Aid certification, Mandated Reporter training, and Shaken Baby training
• Pass required background check and pre-employment screenings

• Flexible and works well under pressure
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to climb up/down stairs
