The WI Interscholastic Horsemanship Association (WIHA) is excited to host the 2025 State Competition. This event will feature over 200 – 6th to 12th grade student equestrians from schools across Wisconsin, competing for their schools. We are seeking enthusiastic and tech-savvy college/university undergraduates to join our team as Live Streaming Coordinator Interns. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in live event broadcasting and IT management. This role requires self-starters who are responsible, reliable, able to work independently, stay on task, and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Preparation and Planning:
• Coordinate with WIHA Board members and event organizers to understand the schedule and requirements.
• Plan the setup for filming two arenas, ensuring optimal camera angles and coverage.
• Participate in virtual meetings starting in August/September to plan and prepare for the event (approximately 5 hours per week).
• Work closely with WIHA Board members and attend meetings focused on live streaming and state competition planning.
Technical Setup:
• Set up and test all necessary equipment, including cameras, microphones, and streaming devices.
• Ensure reliable internet broadband connectivity for uninterrupted streaming.
Live Streaming:
• Manage the live stream of the competition, including switching between cameras and managing audio from two announcers.
• Monitor the stream for quality and troubleshoot any issues in real time.
Communication:
• Keep WIHA Board members up to date with progress, needs, and information to best plan the project.
Post-Event:
• Assist with the breakdown and storage of equipment.
• Provide a summary report of the streaming performance and any recommendations for future events.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a college/university program, preferably in Communications, IT, Media Studies, or a related field.
• Experience with live streaming platforms and video production.
• Strong technical skills, including familiarity with camera operation, audio equipment, and IT networking.
• Comfortable working around horses and in an equestrian environment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Flexibility to work during the event dates and adapt to changing schedules.
