Basic Function: The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for the overall communication and promotion of all Chamber-related events, programs and services and membership development activities.

Scope: The Marketing and communications Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing the promotion and communication program, public relations activities, social media activities, select member services/events, and assisting in the overall membership development program.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the implementation of the public relations and communications plan, including social media.

Plans and oversees the organization’s advertising, promotion, and communication activities.

Responsible for the development and management of the promotion and Communication and related Member Service Department’s annual budget and program of work.

Serves as staff to the following Chamber Committees: Public Relations and other task forces and committees as assigned by the President and CEO. Attends other Chamber Committees as assigned.

Plans and oversees the production of Chamber-related publications, including the management of associated budgets, electronic and social media, Member Matters, Member 2 Member, Chamber Happenings, and the website.

Manages the overall planning and organizing of assigned Chamber and Community Events, including educational seminars and workshops. Works closely with the Special Events Coordinator regarding the planning and promotion of the Annual Meeting, Economic Outlook Breakfast, Business Expo, Golf Outings, Business After Hours, and other Chamber-related events.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of a college degree in marketing, communications, or public relations.

Experience in program and events planning and/or promotion, public relations, sales, membership association/organizations, fund-raising, or community development is desirable.

Abilities and Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to motivate and manage volunteers.

Knowledge of various graphic design software including Canva.

Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.

Working knowledge of marketing principles.

Strong working knowledge of other electronic media including websites.

Initiative and ability to successfully complete projects.

Solid communications and public relations knowledge.

Strong working knowledge of marketing and promotional concepts.

Ability to sell promotional sponsorship.
