Description
The Marketing Intern will support WEDC in four primary areas: email marketing automation and testing, digital marketing, social media content creation, and trend analysis.
Responsibilities
The Marketing Intern will have a wide variety of opportunities that match their skillset and interests but can expect to spend a majority of their time in these activities:
• Email Marketing Automation/Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
• Assist in automating connection to Salesforce.
• Test content and workflow in various email journeys.
• Help lead standardization of email acquisition and leads via digital forms.
• Under the direction of the Digital Marketing Director, help test and automate the lead generation and email marketing components of our Talent Attraction campaign.
• Monitoring for and tracking trends—negative and positive—to apply a data-driven marketing mindset for continuous improvement.
Social media
• Under the direction of the Digital Marketing Content Manager, research, write, prepare, and post content for the following WEDC social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn as well as Look Forward Wisconsin properties.
• Acquiring or designing visual elements to accompany posts.
• Participating and contributing to content planning.
• Sourcing ongoing digital discussions where WEDC should be an active participant.
• Assist in second camera and/or on location content generation opportunities as directed.
Research and recommend content development opportunities based on economic development, SEO, or digital content trends.
• Track general WEDC key performance indicators to help optimize marketing plans and find opportunities most similar to the tactics currently performing best.
• Maintaining and updating WEDC’s inventory of competitive facts that help distinguish Wisconsin as a desirable venue for building a life, growing a career, and starting or growing a business.
• Additional activities supporting the WEDC Marketing & Brand Strategy leadership team as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Current enrollment in a degree program related to Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Non-Profit Management, Events Management, or other related programs
• Some project management/coordinator experience, desired
• Some social media and/or digital paid media experience, desired
• Experience with CRM systems, especially Salesforce, desired
Skills and Talents:
• Ability to organize work, balance multiple priorities and manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced, flexible work environment with strong attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills, sound reasoning, independent judgment, and initiative to accomplish tasks with little or no direction and to solve issues/accomplish tasks not requiring the involvement of others
• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft office suite of products, CRM systems, and other software or applications associated with assigned work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to deal effectively with senior executives as well as diverse groups of people internal and external to the organization
• Requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion
• High level of professionalism
Other Requirements:
• Based on the responsibilities of this position, this position may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional travel to the main office is expected based on role responsibilities, for collaboration and team-building opportunities depending on the employee’s schedule and business needs.
