Description
WSAW-TV, the CBS/FOX/CW affiliate in Wausau, WI is looking for a full-time multimedia journalist who is ready to join our award-winning news operation.
If you love video and have dreamed of being a reporter on TV, here’s your chance! A multimedia journalist is a reporter who finds stories, runs the camera, does the interviews, writes the script, and then tells the story live on TV every night. If you love having control throughout the entire editorial process and thrive in fast-paced situations this job is for you. We want to find the right person to make connections in the community and tell impactful, meaningful stories that can make a difference. This person will also be responsible for shooting videos for our on-air and digital platforms, including wsaw.com and social media. We’re looking for someone with a creative eye, who connects well with people and wants to tell great stories. Depending on the candidate and skillset, this person may have fill-in anchoring opportunities
Responsibilities include:
• Editing video on a non-linear platform
• Enterprising timely, impactful local stories
• Shooting and gathering information in the field
• Operating TVU Live gear and Laptop editors, as well as live technology
• Collaborating with anchors, producers and the assignment desk manager about stories
• Posting content and video to our digital platforms
Qualified candidates will:
• Be available to work either dayside and/or nightside shifts
• Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Be capable of working under pressure and meeting daily deadlines in a high energy environment
• Have good communication skills
• Have solid news judgement
• Have the ability to multi-task efficiently
• Be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Familiarity with ENPS, Grass Valley Edius, Sony XDCAM cameras, Arc Publishing and Social News Desk preferred.
