Are you a journalism student or recent graduate seeking hands-on broadcasting experience? Here’s a unique opportunity to work with a nonprofit in Malawi, empowering aspiring journalists while honing your own skills. Join Developing Radio Partners, an organization dedicated to helping African radio stations deliver impactful messages to rural communities.
As an intern, you’ll mentor young Malawian radio broadcasters who have limited formal training. By collaborating with them and sharing your expertise, you’ll contribute to enhancing the quality of their local radio station’s programming. Additionally, you’ll gain valuable experience by working alongside reporters to find and produce compelling stories.
This internship offers an exceptional chance to understand how radio can transform lives in rural African settings while developing your own broadcasting abilities.

-You will be contacted by Roots Interns, as they handle all internship applications for this organization. Roots will also help with any practical preparations before the start of your internship and ensure you are matched on the correct placement.
-During the internship you will be linked to a supervisor/mentor that will guide you and provide support & feedback throughout your time with the organization.
-Please note that the internship is based on a volunteer work placement, so you will not receive a payment or stipend of any kind.
-Fees for 2024/2025: Remote Internship – USD 575 (regardless of the duration).
-There is no fee to apply; Fees only need to be paid once a placement has been secured.
