Description

The Environmental Law & Policy Center Madison office offers an internship for a graduate or final year undergraduate student. Applicants should have excellent writing and analytical skills, a demonstrated interest in, and commitment to, public interest and environmental advocacy and a strong academic record. This internship is compensated and provides future job seekers with helpful work place education and experience.

Science and Policy Interns assist ELPC’s staff with a variety of tasks, including: clean water, pollution prevention, clean energy policies and projects, forest protection, advancing global warming solutions, grass roots advocacy, and special projects. Interns also attend meetings with state and federal agencies, legislators, and concerned citizens.

Key activities in the Madison office for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters will be focused on tracking winter manure spreading and enforcement alternatives. Tasks will include outreach to local citizens, tracking and documenting reports, managing data systems, drafting communications materials and reviewing and summarizing reports. There will also be some work related to forest protection and rural renewable energy. A strong non-academic writing ability is a plus.

We hope to start the internship later in the semester, around October or November 1st. It would end in the first week of April.

This is a paid position offering good work place education and experience, helpful to future job seekers. ELPC encourages students to seek outside funding and fellowships or course credit.

To apply, follow these instructions. Please submit: a cover letter addressing the position, a resume, and a list of references via email to Andy Olsen, AOlsen@elpc.org. In your cover letter address:

  1. When your internship could start
  2. When your internship could end
  3. How many hours per week you could provide.
