Matt Hermann is a Teaching Faculty III in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where he teaches intermediate reporting and sports marketing communications, as well as helps administer the student internship program. He also serves as the advisor for the sports communication certificate.
He comes to SJMC following 12 years at Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, where he served as a reporter, editor, producer and anchor across the network’s TV, radio and online output. Matt covered German soccer throughout the his time in Europe, and worked on a freelance basis for the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund and BT Sport, among other outlets. Since moving to Madison, Matt stays in touch with the Bundesliga through his duties as host of Talking Fussball, the leading German football podcast in English. His other interests include politics, basketball, cooking, mass transit and powerlifting. He holds a B.A. from Kenyon College and an M.A. in Journalism from New York University.
