Xining Liao is a Ph.D. candidate in Mass Communication. Her research examines media effects and effective persuasion strategies in intergroup settings, with a particular emphasis on the role of morality, either as a trait or as a message feature. Her dissertation seeks to explore how moral and threatening language in mainstream U.S. news coverage of China relate to American public opinion toward China, and assess their persuasive effects on individual attitudes.
