The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) named SJMC Assistant Professor Lindsay Palmer a 2019 Emerging Scholar. This national honor recognizes Palmer’s most recently published book, Becoming the Story: War Correspondents Since 9/11, her forthcoming book Shadow Stories: News Fixers’ Perspectives on the Underground Labor of International Reporting, and her current book-length project on the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Prof. Palmer’s exemplary scholarship was previously honored by the AEJMC in 2018 with the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Junior Woman Scholar Award and by UW’s Vice Chancellor for Research in 2017 with the Vilas Early Investigator Award.
Palmer studies global media from a qualitative perspective, with a special focus on the cultural labor of conflict correspondents in the digital age.
