Michael Brophy
Retired Chief Communications Officer and Chief of Staff to the CEO, Aurora Health Care
Mike served from 2009 to 2019 as Chief Communications Officer and Chief of Staff to the CEO at Aurora Health Care, Wisconsin’s largest health care system, now Advocate Aurora Health. He has an extensive background in corporate communications, public affairs, community relations and marketing communications.
At Aurora, Mike was responsible for reputation management, media relations, marketing and advertising, employee communications, web/digital and social media, stakeholder relations and strategic planning as well as the Chief of Staff to CEO.
Before joining Aurora, Mike served as Vice President-Communications and primary spokesperson for Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines for two years prior to its sale by TPG Capital to Republic Airlines.
He also served for 13 years in various communications and corporate affairs positions with the Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee, including Director of Corporate Communications and Director of Public Affairs, where he served as spokesperson and led all corporate media relations, employee communications, web communications, speechwriting, corporate philanthropy and community relations and visitor/tour operations.
Mike currently serves on the board of directors for Penfield Children’s Center in Milwaukee, where he was also Board Chair. Since retirement, he has rekindled a passion painting abstract art, writing poetry and enjoying nature at their lake home in Door County, Wisconsin. He and his wife Debra, a retired senior manager with a major apparel manufacturer/retailer, and daughter are all proud Badgers.
