Elohim Monard Rivas headshot

Elohim is a PhD student at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Focused on political communication, his topics of interest are disinformation in Latin American democracies and, in a wider perspective, how communication builds trust, legitimacy and political stability.

Elohim has a bachelor’s degree in Communication from the Universidad de Lima and a Master of International Development Policy from Duke University as a Rotary Peace Fellow. Before coming to Madison, he worked in political analysis and public policies related to safety and security. He was also a university professor and cofounder of Civiclass, an enterprise to provide virtual training to public servants in Peru.

In the future, Elohim’s goal is to keep teaching while working on research and policies to strengthen democracies through communication whether in academia or industry. Elohim lives in Madison with his wife and two boys.
