Kruthika Kamath

Kruthika Kamath is a doctoral candidate in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She analyzes the relationship between news media coverage and social media participation of feminist social justice movements. Specifically, she studies patterns of care, acknowledgment and social activism that emerge within social movements on a global scale. Her two main research projects are on the #MeToo movement in India and the global social media discourse on abortion.

Currently, she is the Instructor on Record for J561: Mass Communication & Society. Previously, she has been the instructor for J335: Principles & Practices of Reporting, as well as lead teaching assistant & section TA for J202: Mass Communication Practices. She has also worked as a Project Assistant for the UW–Madison International Projects Office, a senior copywriter, a social media manager, and a UI/UX content writer.

Kruthika holds an M.Sc. and M.A. in Global Media and Communication from the London School of Economics and University of Southern California, respectively. And she received her B.A. in Mass Communications from Mount Carmel College in Bangalore, India.
