Multiple SJMC Students Recognized With 2018 Excellence in Journalism Awards by the Milwaukee Press Club

On Friday, May 10, the Milwaukee Press Club recognized winners of their 89th Annual Milwaukee Press Club Excellence in Wisconsin Journalism Contest, honoring an abundance of SJMC students. Winners of contest awards, either gold, silver or bronze, were announced at the Milwaukee Press Club’s Gridiron Awards Dinner in Milwaukee.

Each year, hundreds of collegiate and professional journalists enter the competition in the hopes of being recognized by the Milwaukee Press Club for their extraordinary work. The competition is judged by professional journalists from press clubs throughout the United States. Many students in the SJMC were honored for their work, a majority coming from classes taught by professors Stacy Forster and Pat Hastings.

A variety of other students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison were also nominated for their work at publications such as the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, The Daily Cardinal and The Badger Herald.
